Robert
and I went out to Arkansas
last week to work with clients on a new home in the southern part of the
state. Both clients play golf, love to hunt
and the gentleman has deep family roots in the community in which they plan to
live. It was a fast trip with only one
full day at the home site. Still, we accomplished
a lot and are prepared to expand on the work we’ve already done on this new
residence. We both were struck by how
exciting a new project can be. It seems
as if it’s been such a long time since a new, complete project has come
along. Oh, yeah, it has been a long time
since a new complete project came along.
Does it mean we’re out of the woods completely, now? No, but it certainly is encouraging. As we sat on the plane and talked about the
project we also were able to recognize other glimmers on the horizon. This work will keep us busy and with the new
retail space now only three months away we know we’ll be seeing more interest
in the services we offer. And, of
course, we feel the pressure to keep abreast of the selections and decisions
new needed on a home in which the framing is rising even as we speak. Fortunately we worked with the same clients two
and a half years ago on a full home renovation here and a lot of the same selections
will be very appropriate to the new home in Arkansas.
We will make changes, of course, due to the regional change as well as a
larger space to design. The new home
will be a little less formal than the California
house but will still retain the restrained elegance they both very much enjoy.
So,
yes, I do see things getting better on the interior design front. I knew they would. Once again I must say now is one of the best
times ever to get into the business. There
is a lot of pent up demand for services and people are going to be willing to
spend on their homes for the first time in over three years. Keep promoting your business, institute new
direct mail campaigns and by all means enjoy the new sense of optimism many of
us are seeing.
Hey! Thanks for giving us a glimpse of your life! I just want you to know that your entries are very interesting and entertaining!
